Art of the Overlooked

I've always been fascinated by detail in nature.

On childhood walks, family would stride up the hill with purpose; their only goal being the expansive view. Whereas, I'd be miles behind lost in the exquisite detail of a pebble or an unexpected shock of pink on the underside of a leaf.

My art explores these details. Amplifying their quiet subtlety with scale, striking colour and dynamic mark-making. Almost challenging the viewer to overlook them now...

Inspired by decaying rose-hips in Autumn. I love walking in Autumn, by breath on the chilling air and the rich smells of leaves mulching under my feet as I walk. I'm always startled by the vivid colours which emerge at this time of year.
